How big should my board be for Prone Foiling?Updated 2 months ago
As in most foiling sports, size and volume is your friend when starting. For beginners in Prone Foiling, larger boards with a volume of around 40 to 50 liters (length from 4'6'' bis 5'6'') are recommended, as the added buoyancy helps in catching smaller and weaker waves. Depending on the rider's weight, the larger Duotone Crush SLS or the smaller Skybrid SLS shapes would be excellent choices.
On the other hand, smaller boards with a volume of 30 liters or below (length from 4'0'' to 4'6'') offer better maneuverability and make pumping easier, particularly in more powerful and larger waves. A good guideline is to choose a Prone Foiling board that has at least 10 liters more volume than your regular shortboard to start with.
