What is the right board for Parawinging and how big should it be?Updated 2 months ago
When Parawinging, it is important not to choose a board that is too small, as Parawings are not as easy to "pump" as traditional wings. Additionally, you should ensure that the board has good planing capabilities, such as a mid-length board like the Duotone Skybrid or a Downwinder.
A useful rule of thumb for beginners is to use body weight in kilograms = board volume in liters + 10 to 20 liters. For example, a wingfoiler weighing 80 kg looking to start Parawinging should consider a 100-liter Skybrid or Downwinder board to become a Parawinger more quickly. Experienced Parawingers are ideally equipped with a board volume close to their own body weight (body weight in kg ≈ board volume in liters).
Using smaller boards requires more pull on the wing, often leading to an overpowered state once on the foil.
